SIG and its partners are expanding “Recycle for Good” in Indonesia under the regional “Recycle for Good – Prevent Marine Litter” project to strengthen waste segregation, collection, and recycling systems while helping prevent packaging waste from reaching the ocean.
Building on existing activities in Greater Jakarta, the initiative is expanding to Surabaya, Malang, West Nusa Tenggara, and Bali, with activities implemented across 389 locations involving schools, communities, businesses, cafés, religious institutions, waste collectors, and other stakeholders.
The program combines community engagement, behavior change, collection networks, recycling infrastructure, digital tools, and reward mechanisms to make recycling more accessible and encourage long-term participation. SIG is also supporting recycling infrastructure, including the upgrade of pulping equipment at Eco-Paper’s recycling facility to improve used beverage carton processing.
As part of a regional initiative covering Indonesia, Thailand, and the Philippines through December 2028, the project aims to prevent at least 10,000 tons of packaging waste from entering the ocean and engage 100,000 households across the three countries.
