Indonesia is advancing its waste-to-energy infrastructure development, with Danantara Indonesia planning to expand its network of project development partners while preparing several major waste-to-energy facilities for construction.
On 19 October 2026, Danantara Indonesia outlined plans to introduce up to six additional development partners before the end of 2026.
The announcement follows progress on eight second-phase Waste-to-Energy (WtE) projects being developed through PT Danantara Investment Management (DIM) and PT Daya Energi Bersih Nusantara (Denera).
The developments highlight potential opportunities in environmental technology, power generation, industrial automation, and sustainable waste management.
Eight Waste-to-Energy Projects Under Development
Danantara and Denera are preparing eight second-phase waste-to-energy projects across Indonesia.
The developments cover Medan Raya, Bekasi Regency, Lampung Raya, Serang Raya, Semarang Raya, Surabaya Raya, Bogor Raya II, and Yogyakarta Raya.
According to reporting published on 20 October 2026, the combined investment associated with these eight projects is estimated at approximately IDR 25 trillion.
The projects are progressing through engineering design, investment preparation, and commercial arrangements, with construction targeted to begin progressively in 2027.
The selected development partners received Conditional Letters of Award in July 2026. Final implementation remains subject to the applicable project requirements and investment decisions.
