SwissCham Indonesia Golf Tournament 2020

On Friday 7th August 2020, we held the 2nd Annual SwissCham Golf Tournament at Royale Jakarta Golf Club. The friendly tournament was a sell-out with 71 players enjoying their morning game at the green while still implementing the health protocols as advised by the Indonesian authorities. This is a strong signal that as the economy begins to recover from Covid-19, and that SwissCham is well-positioned to serve and support our members for years to come.

We would like to thank Zurich Topas Life and Louis Dreyfus Company for sponsoring the game, and to all the players and organiser for making the tournament fun and lively.

Dialogue with the Ministry of Agriculture

Representatives from Indonesia SwissCham were engaged in a dialogue with the Ministry of Agriculture on Thursday, 6th August at Bigland Renotel in Bogor. The group of 11 people from Nestlé, JTI, Sampoerna, SGS and Syngenta was led by Mr. Sammy Hamzah from Regal Springs who is also a member of the SwissCham Board of Management. While the Ministry of Agriculture team was headed by Dr. Ade Chandradijaya, Head of International Relations Bureau, and consisted of around 20 people from different divisions of the ministry.

The fruitful dialogue end on a positive note that this meeting was a start to open doors for further future dialogue between the Ministry of Agriculture and Indonesia SwissCham.

Annual General Meeting 2020

On 5th August 2020, amidst the pandemic, the first ever virtual Indonesia SwissCham Annual General Meeting (AGM) was held.

The AGM provides an opportunity for us to present our annual report on our performance throughout 2019 and the first half of 2020.
We greatly thank all the member’s participation and contribution in making our AGM a smooth and successful meeting.

On the same occasion, we also announced the resignation of Dr. Luthfi Mardiansyah as the Chairman of Indonesia SwissCham. Dr. Mardiansyah has been in the position since the chamber was established in 2018, and has help us grow with his great commitment and contributions. He, will remain with the chamber as the Chairman of the Board of Supervisors.

In a separate meeting, during the first Board of Management meeting right after the AGM, the new leadership team for 2020-2021 was elected:
Mr. Chris Bendl from Zurich Indonesia as Chairman, Mr. Henry Chia from Endress+Hauser Indonesia as Vice-Chairman, and Mr. Philipp Hug from Bühler Indonesia as Treasurer.

With the new Board of Management team, we look forward to another year with confidence that we will continue to create sustainable value to our members.

Emergency stay permits to no longer be issued for foreigners as Indonesia enters ‘new normal’

KITAS holders who have been granted an emergency stay permit may now extend their KITAS or apply for KITAP, according to the updated regulations. However, emergency stay permit holders who have reached the limit of their KITAS extension are required to leave Indonesia within 30 days from 13 July 2020.

Similarly, KITAP holders with emergency stay permits can now extend their permits, while emergency stay permit holders who are no longer able to extend their KITAP are required to leave the country within 30 days starting from 13 July 2020.

Virtual Discussion: “Practical Steps to Return to Work”

With the Large Scale Social Distancing (PSBB) regulations being lifted gradually, one of the biggest challenges companies are facing today is determining how and when to start the complex task of returning to the workplace.

This session will give you a chance to hear directly from a representative from Indonesia National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) on guidance provided by the government for the industry sector to return to work; from the healthcare industry on measurements that can be taken by companies when deciding protocols, as well as tips on how to work safely under the “New Normal”; and from the Crisis Management Lead Team of APL on steps implemented by the organisation to ensure safety for their workforce while still maintaining business sustainability.

Webinar Series on Life Post COVID-19: What does the New Normal looks like?

Chapters Indonesia in collaboration with Indonesia SwissCham and NordCham Indonesia conducted a webinar series on Friday, 29th May 2020 moderated by Dr. Luthfi Mardiansyah and three distinguish speakers, namely Prof Amin Soebandrio (Chairman of Eijkman Institute), Prof. Hasbullah Thabrany (Chairman of InaHEA) and Prof. Tikki Pangestu (Visiting Professor, Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy Singapore). The webinar was attended by 507 participants from the likes of healthcare practitioners, academicians, professionals from the following industries: pharmaceutical, healthcare, medical equipment, engineering, consulting and fast moving consumer goods; as well as students and the general public.

During the webinar session, Prof Amin Soebandrio explained the pre-requisite and the characteristics of a new normal, while Prof Hasbullah Thabrany spoke from the economy side of the new normal which he concludes his presentations with a message that human being is equipped with highly adaptable skills and will accelerate high tech area. Last but not least, Prof Tikki Pangestu described the new normal pyramid, where at the top of the pyramid would be people’s health, on the bottom are social harmony, equilibrium and economic survival.  The session ended with notes from the speakers that for a successful control for this pandemic is active participation from the community, people to voluntarily implement what is recommended by the government and to take measurements in maintaining and improving their health conditions.   What Indonesia needs now is unity in purpose and unity in co-ordination in collectively solving this problem. “Bhinneka Tunggal Ika”, Unity in Diversity.
