On behalf of SwissCham Indonesia, Nanda Eka Faradilla attended BBIF 2026 in Banjarmasin, where government representatives, investors, and business stakeholders came together to discuss South Kalimantan’s investment priorities and regional development opportunities.Â
The forum presented a diverse investment pipeline across renewable energy, waste management, downstream industries, food processing, fisheries, agribusiness, and logistics infrastructure. Across these sectors, a recurring theme was the importance of creating more value locally through stronger downstream processing, better infrastructure, and more sustainable regional value chains. 
Among the opportunities presented was the proposed 40 MW Kusan Hydroelectric Power Plant in Tanah Bumbu Regency, which is positioned to support growing industrial electricity demand while contributing to renewable energy development and the broader transition toward a greener economy.Â
The forum also highlighted opportunities in waste management, including a proposed hazardous-waste processing facility in Banjarbaru. The project is designed to address gaps in local treatment capacity and is structured under a PPP/BOT model, illustrating the potential role of private-sector participation in strengthening environmental infrastructure.Â
Another important focus was downstream industrial development, particularly in the palm-oil value chain. Proposed projects in oleochemicals and fatty alcohols aim to capture more value from South Kalimantan’s existing raw-material base while opening opportunities for technology, processing know-how, and industrial collaboration.Â
Beyond energy and industry, the investment portfolio also included projects in poultry processing, integrated fisheries, livestock feed, Hiyung chilli processing, and port development. Together, these opportunities reflect South Kalimantan’s ambition to strengthen local production, improve food security, and enhance regional connectivity.Â
