From Farmers’ Hands, Growing Hope for Indonesia

In celebration of National Farmers’ Day (Hari Tani Nasional), Syngenta Indonesia brought together farmers, policymakers, researchers, industry partners, and agricultural stakeholders through Festival Padi Petani MAJU 2026, held from 22–24 September 2026.

 

Built around the spirit of M-A-J-U, the three-day festival connected policy, innovation, sustainability, and collaboration—bringing the conversation from the national level closer to the farmers and the field.

 

The journey began with the Indonesia Petani MAJU Summit at the Hotel Indonesia Kempinski Jakarta, bringing together leaders from government, diplomacy, research, and the agricultural sector to explore how policy, research, and innovation can work together to strengthen food security and farmers’ livelihoods.

 

The Summit featured insights from H.E. Konstantin Obolensky, Ambassador of Switzerland to Indonesia, Leonardo A.A. Teguh Sambodo, Deputy for Development Economics at Kemenko PPN/Bappenas, and Dr. Ir. Hj. Endang Setyawati Thohari, Member of Commission IV of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), alongside agricultural stakeholders and farmer representatives.

 

The day also marked important milestones in collaboration. Syngenta Indonesia signed MoUs with international partners (WinAll, CLLRI) and Jenderal Soedirman University to strengthen cooperation in rice innovation and agricultural development.

 

Adding another highlight, Cuprinomat received a Museum Rekor Dunia Indonesia (MURI) award for its activation journey, covering 5,108 km from Sumatra Utara to Sulawesi and bringing agricultural innovation closer to farmers across Indonesia.

 

The second day, Rice Innovation Day, brought participants closer to the science and
technology behind rice innovation. Held at Syngenta’s R&D Station in Cikampek, the day offered a firsthand look at how research, technology, and field insights come together to address farmers’ needs. From R&D and laboratory insights to field demonstrations, the day highlighted innovation’s role in accelerating progress in rice farming.

 

On National Farmers’ Day, the festival continued with Festival Padi Petani MAJU: Celebrating Hari Tani Nasional at Syngenta’s Learning & Development Center in Karawang. Through field demonstrations and farmer-focused activities, the celebration highlighted the importance of collaboration and sustainable agricultural practices in supporting the future of rice farming.

 

The three-day journey concluded at Resinda Hotel Karawang with the Gala Dinner & Appreciation Night: “Synergy in Action with Unity”. The evening brought together growers’ representatives from Syngenta Indonesia’s communities across Indonesia and partners to celebrate the collective efforts to advance Indonesian agriculture.

As part of this spirit of collaboration, Syngenta Indonesia also signed an MoU with SMKN Pertanian Karawang (an agricultural vocational school), together with Perum Bulog,  PT Pupuk Kujang, and KTNA West Java. The collaboration reflects a shared commitment to strengthening agricultural education and developing the next generation of agricultural talent. The evening also served as a moment to recognize and appreciate the farmers, partners, and field teams whose contributions continue to move the agricultural ecosystem forward.
