“The 1000 Days Fund campaign seek to mobilize Indonesia towards a national commitment to zero stunting by 2030” and to support the campaign, SwissCham Indonesia donated IDR 10 million on 14 August 2020.
Today, representing SwissCham Indonesia Board of Management, Mr. Christophe Piganiol, who is also the President Director of PT. Anugerah Pharmindo Lestari (APL), gave a symbolic presentation to 1000 Days Fund received by Mr. Stanley Saputra, Program Officer of the organisation.
This is a start of a partnership with opportunities for future collaborations.

Yesterday on 18 August, Ambassador of Switzerland in Indonesia, H.E. Kurt Kunz together with SwissCham’s Chairman Board of Supervisor, Dr. Luthfi Mardiansyah, had an audience with Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Syahrul Yasin Limpo at his office.

The meeting was a follow up after SwissCham Indonesia and our members (PT. Nestle Indonesia, PT. Syngenta Indonesia, PT. HM Sampoerna, PT. Japan Tobacco International Indonesia, and PT. SGS Indonesia) met on 6 August in Bogor with Head Bureau of International Cooperation, Dr. Ade Candradijaya.

H.E Kurt Kunz and Dr. Luthfi Mardiansyah delivered and discussed with the Minister on three things, regulations, foreign ownership, and potential collaboration for Swiss companies who are operating in Indonesia. SwissCham Indonesia looks forward to the cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture.
 

Indonesian Independence Day, locally known as “Hari Kemerdekaan” is celebrated annually on 17th of August to commemorate the declaration of independence in 1945.

The Proclamation of Independence read in the morning of Friday, 17th August 1945 by Sukarno, accompanied by Mohammad Hatta. The Red and White flag flown for the first time after the proclamation declared at Sukarno’s house.

Every year at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta, the President hosted the national flag hoisting ceremony to remember the important day for Indonesia. After the flag ceremony, the people of Indonesia around the globe usually celebrate the Independence Day by various games and competitions.

To help the pandemic situation in Indonesia, ABB Indonesia (PT. ABB Sakti Industri and PT. ABB Power Grids Indonesia) donated funds to University of Indonesia for the development and production of much needed ventilators and distributed it directly to hospitals through the National Disaster Management Agency.
 

On Friday 7th August 2020, we held the 2nd Annual SwissCham Golf Tournament at Royale Jakarta Golf Club. The friendly tournament was a sell-out with 71 players enjoying their morning game at the green while still implementing the health protocols as advised by the Indonesian authorities. This is a strong signal that as the economy begins to recover from Covid-19, and that SwissCham is well-positioned to serve and support our members for years to come.

We would like to thank Zurich Topas Life and Louis Dreyfus Company for sponsoring the game, and to all the players and organiser for making the tournament fun and lively.

Representatives from SwissCham Indonesia were engaged in a dialogue with the Ministry of Agriculture on Thursday, 6th August at Bigland Renotel in Bogor. The group of 11 people from Nestlé, JTI, Sampoerna, SGS and Syngenta was led by Mr. Sammy Hamzah from Regal Springs who is also a member of the SwissCham Board of Management. While the Ministry of Agriculture team was headed by Dr. Ade Chandradijaya, Head of International Relations Bureau, and consisted of around 20 people from different divisions of the ministry.

The fruitful dialogue end on a positive note that this meeting was a start to open doors for further future dialogue between the Ministry of Agriculture and SwissCham Indonesia.

On 5th August 2020, amidst the pandemic, the first ever virtual SwissCham Indonesia Annual General Meeting (AGM) was held.

The AGM provides an opportunity for us to present our annual report on our performance throughout 2019 and the first half of 2020.
We greatly thank all the member’s participation and contribution in making our AGM a smooth and successful meeting.

On the same occasion, we also announced the resignation of Dr. Luthfi Mardiansyah as the Chairman of SwissCham Indonesia. Dr. Mardiansyah has been in the position since the chamber was established in 2018, and has help us grow with his great commitment and contributions. He, will remain with the chamber as the Chairman of the Board of Supervisors.

In a separate meeting, during the first Board of Management meeting right after the AGM, the new leadership team for 2020-2021 was elected:
Mr. Chris Bendl from Zurich Indonesia as Chairman, Mr. Henry Chia from Endress+Hauser Indonesia as Vice-Chairman, and Mr. Philipp Hug from Bühler Indonesia as Treasurer.

With the new Board of Management team, we look forward to another year with confidence that we will continue to create sustainable value to our members.
